An essential oil comes from a plant source.  It contains the natural chemistry of the plant as well as its fragrance.  All Ozark Herbals essential oils are 100% pure, natural plant oils.  We never add carrier oils, alcohol or anything else to dilute our essential oils.  Gas chromatography testing has further established their purity and concentration.

Most of Ozark Herbals essential oils are steam distilled or cold pressed.  A few plants only release their oil with a solvent (usually alcohol or hexane.)  We've identified the extraction method for each oil so you know the specifics for it.

Essential oils are very potent.  Their common unit of use is a drop.  Most essential oils have cosmetic, perfume and/or medicinal uses that are specific to the plant.  Always use a reliable reference for these broader uses.

Store essential oils in tightly sealed dark glass bottles away from heat and light.  Properly stored oils can maintain their quality for years. (Some oils improve with age: sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, frankincense and myrrh.)  It's best to use citrus oils within one year.  Keep oils out of reach of children.  Oils may react with some finishes and fabrics.  Learn about an oil before you use it.
